Don’t want to come downtown? I make house calls all over Western Mass, to your home, business, or hospital location, as needed.

Marie Jablonski is a solo attorney in Springfield, MA with a general law practice, and is a 2002 graduate of Western New England College School of Law. She provides legal services in the areas of family law, probating estates, preparing estate documents, and social security disability appeals. Included in her work are mediation, filing documents for probating estates of deceased persons, preparation of wills, powers of attorney, trusts, Medicaid applications and other estate planning documents. She accepts court cases in the four Western counties: Hampden, Hampshire, Berkshire and Franklin. She makes house calls, and hospital or nursing home visits.

Before becoming an attorney Marie worked in human resources at an international corporation, and worked with disabled employees with illnesses and injuries. She has two Masters degrees in psychology and this background allows her to understand the unique needs of individuals and families who come to her for legal services.

In her family law practice she emphasizes mediation as a method of reaching a settlement of legal issues in the case. She is a certified mediator and also provides mediation in family law matters, as an alternative to the traditional adversarial method in a family law court case. She also represents individual parties when the process is adversarial, in the Probate Court.

Marie volunteers in her community in several areas including speaking at local senior centers on legal topics, supports Gardening the Community, is a member of Human Rights Committee of Work Opportunity Center in Agawam, and member of Women Business Owners Alliance.

Marie hails from Springfield, where she currently makes her home. She is a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and the North Carolina Tar Heels mens’ and womens’ basketball teams. She also enjoys The Quadrangle Museums, gardening, and singing in her church choir.

CANCER

I am a ten year cancer survivor in 2023. I had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. I was completely bald for a year. I learned to navigate the complex and ever-changing world of cancer treatments, working while recovering, and dealing with all the personal life changes that result. I became an expert in self advocacy with medical professionals and health insurance, decision-making, and life planning. I can tell you from personal experience WHY you need your estate documents prepared in advance of a medical emergency.

MY MOTHER

My dear mother Theresa, passed away in 2011. For eight years prior to her death, I was her coach and assistant. She sold her home, moved to a smaller apartment, then to assisted living, and finally to a skilled nursing facility. Each of these transitions brought their own challenges that we had to manage and life changes we had to accept in order to make them successful. I became an expert in dealing successfully with an elderly parent. I know how to have “the talk” with a parent, so that life moves on through each phase with dignity, respect and love in the family.

MY MULTI-CULTURAL FAMILY

I am a grateful member of a multi-cultural family, that has opened my eyes to conversations, visions and opportunities I never dreamed of. We carefully live out our lives in mutual admiration and affection. I am on a great adventure, and I am learning how truly understand someone else’s point of view.

PROBATE AN ESTATE

When your loved one passes away, a lot of questions may be raised about the probate process. Probate is a court-involved procedure to carry out your loved one’s wishes, if they had a will, or to distribute their assets according to the law of family inheritance, if they did not have a will. There are many court forms, and the forms have technical content that need to be correct to be accepted  by the Probate Court. I can assist with this process, and complete the necessary paperwork, and other actions needed, for example, steps to be taken if real estate is being sold or passed on in the probate process.
